Reading to dogs is fast becoming one of the biggest reading interventions in schools with astounding feedback. Struggling child readers are encouraged to read to dogs to help build up their confidence. Research suggests children, especially those who struggle, can be nervous and stressed when reading aloud in class. Dogs are non-judgemental, attentive and perfect listeners. Before reading to Archie children sit down and stroke him to help lower their blood pressure to help them feel relaxed and in a comfortable state.
